2 weeks holidays to spend.Our friend cannot leave before Thursday 9th so we decide to head south from Lima. Surfed a small Cerro Azul on the way down, visited Paracas islands and drove in the desert. On the way back to Lima, we stop in Cerro Azul too small to surf and decide to get to Puerto Viejo where we enjoy some small but nice waves.
Back in Lima, time to go to the North.
Thursday - Lima to Huanchaco. Stopped on the way in Bermejo but was too small. Arrived late in Huanchaco. Stayed in "La Ancla" ***, but after discussion the price was ok.
Friday - Huanchaco to Pacasmayo. Forecast is bad, so we decide to spend the morning visiting the ruins of Chan-Chan and then drive to Pacasmayo. Huanchaco was smallbut could have been given a try early morning. We checked Poemape on the way (too small) and had a sunset session in Pacasmayo with small but well-formed waves. Stayed in "El Duke", friendly, nice and cheap.
Saturday - Pacasmayo to Piura. Surfed early Pacasmayo (smaller than the day before) and started our way up until Piura (going by night to Lobitos for the first time is asking to spend the night in the desert near a petrol well ).Can't remember the name of the hotel we stayed in. Was cheap and clean. Nothing fancy though.
Sunday - Piura to Lobitos. Took 2 hours to get to Lobitos (got lost as planned in the entrance...).We stayed at the Albergue Municipal (above the beach). Best view over the point but worst guest house of the region (no water for 2 days, enjoy the toilets. The guardian Raul was a pain.). We heard there were some other guest houses in the village, that's worth a look...
Anway, we got to Talara to buy some supplies for the stayas there was too much wind and many kite surfers at the point. Surfed a really nice Lobitos in the evening till night. Awesome wave.
Monday - Lobitos. Got up late, lazyness and tiredness. Alexandra surfed General (between Lobitos and Muelles), Lobitos was crowded.We did to bit later current was strong. Good waves though. Went to Baterias in the evening. Was big (around 2m) and great.
Tuesday - Lobitos. Not many waves in Lobitos but crowd. El Hueco is working nicely but crowded too. We decide to go for the day in Mancora. Nothing special, a touristic village, wave is not so nice. On the way passed a few spots but did not check (Organos, El Ñuro, Cabo Blanco).
Wednesday - Lobitos to Chicama. Nothing to surf in Lobitos so we decide to get down to Chicam and start our way back. At Chicama we stayed at the "Sueños" hotel, last one on the cliff. El Hombre was full.
Thursday - Chicama. Surfed "El Point" in the morning, too small. Evening session at "El Cape", nice surf.
Friday - Chicama to Barranca. Surfed "El Cape" in the morning. Nothing special, small. Go down to Barranca.
Saturday - Barranca to Lima. Surfed Bermejo in the morning, small but was rather good early morning. Then head south to Lima and finish the trip .
All-in-all, even we had small waves all along the trip (except in Baterias), we had some luck some days. Waves in the North are great. Need to get back to Lobitos as soon as possible :)
