Conditions needed
Crayfish Factory only realy works during the winter when clean 16-18 sec. groundswell is running in a 10 - 25ft swell size. Best with a Light NW wind and a more Southerly swell direction.Dont paddle out on a small board (under a 8ft!) you will get worked. Has become quite crowded on resent and and has claimed a fair share of victims in its time. Handle with care and be surfing fit!

surfed the factory heaps in the old days and it got to be one of CT's best . Come to think of it it's better big wave than nearly all Oz . ..... nearly .... but then it's so consistent ..hhmmm

Only the nose knows
I met a photographer who paddled into a big oner just to get in cause it was so big. He paddled in, went over the falls and his face got rammed into his camera which was in his hand. This basically left his nose hanging on by a thread. When I met him at Dave VanGinkels he was showing us the stiches which were now holding his nose onto his face. Luckily the dude was pretty high at the time so he kind of took it all in his stride.

surfed it
when i srfed that i took 1 of the big sets and it barreled over me and it took me with the tube and i got smashed now i have 14 stiches in my arm and leg

dont forget to pack your big wave board when traveling to Cape Town this spot is one of 5 big wave spots in the area!
