How to check when it works? - I am moving back to HK in Jan and like to keep on surfing there (actually body board). How can I check that Check O is working before I take a ride from central? Any reliable web site where I can check the swell? It the spot really sensitive to the wind? Thanks for your advise

shek o surf - yeahh theres surf this time of year mann, easy enough to get to, catch the mtr (railway) to shau kei wan, get off at the exit saying bus terminus, go to the end of the terminus and catch the number 9. the number 9 ends in shek o so youll know when your there. easy enough to find, bring your own board though, no rentals in shek o. if you need to rent, better of visiting dai long wan hong kong side.

you guys dont know anything - Hi,Im a shek o local and first off the thing that really pisses me off is the fact taht a bunch of people go around saying shek o doesnt get surf shek o is shit and shek o only gets surf if theres a typhoon. Thats all the biggest load of crap ever. Want to know why shek o has a better wave than big wave bay? Because it has better shape it doesnt all revolve around size... BWB closes out almost all days while shek o a bigger beach is able to hold quite a bit more swell. Winter is the BEST time to go. NOT summer. that means mid september to aprilish time. the second thing that gets to me is this false information that people have been spreading about the kayaker. one of my best friends had his friend staying at his place in shek o while he was visiting. they went kayaking it was his first time ever going. he went inside a cave in low tide and got stuck. the sea went rough and his kayak got flipped knocked him out he hit his head on a rock did a lot of damage and drowned. I dont appreciate people talking about all this like they have some clue when they really dont. Before you start judging my break saying its crap try coming down when theres some swell not during flat season. Thanks

Sweat shop? - Too bad that greedy capitalists like yourselves are running sweat shops in such nice places...try sticking to a pure surf trip with good intentions...your Karma will benefit from that!
Por anonymous , 14-04-2006
- apparently knocked off the kayak by a wave, hit his head and pushed in to a cave/crevice in the island. Shek O is dangerous, particually to those who are unwary of the dangers. Every year lives are lost in this bay.

Kayaker found in cave - Anyone know any details of the kayaker whose body and kayak were found at Shek o April 1st or 2nd?
Por Wingy , 03-03-2006
Keith Sasaki - Are you sure he lives on the north shore? I saw him again at Shek O and down the road at Big Wave Bay about a month ago. Maybe it's his brother or somethin'.. Yeah, there r sum spots that get good roun here when there's swell. If ur up to searchin, then you may be in for some suprise.
Por Matty , 02-03-2006
kool - its keith sasaski and he lives in hawaii on the north shore. Hes a was a legend at professionalo bodyboarding and pioneered the drop knee stance in big waves. N e ways what r the waves like here, worth a look? R there ne good reefies or spots that work in good swell?
