Adrian I have Nusa Dua (Gir Gir) for a number of years and just returned from a 3 week surfing trip. This is a world class wave that has stacks of power and long rides - there are three take off points and the further inside you go the heavier the wave and the more the wash. I rode a hybrid minimall and also a 6.8ft on some days. Great fun and worth the trip. Is getting more crowded since no bombs in Bali since 2005.

answer for andy i just got back from bali and i surfed nusa dua every day. its not too heavy but if u come off ur going to hit reef. the reef is flat tho so ur not likely to get cut, just bruised!! it is one of the best spots i've surfed but the current was so strong i could only stay out for 2 hrs and i was the 1 out the longest. oh and make sure u dont get caught in a storm, it happened to me and i couldnt see more then 2 meters in front of me. the boats wont come and get u either if there's a storm so u'll have 2 paddle half an hour into shore. it's well worth it tho and i advise u 2 go

nusa dua i surfed nusa dua two years ago, it's pretty good. on a low tide it's still surfable, and about a meter deep. I wouldn't recommend riding a 5'1", but if it's smallish it'd be ok. I went in december, and the smallest board I rode was a 6'3", and i'm 6'1" and 75kgs. it's a pretty good spot, but there are better up the coast a bit towards sarangan, keramas, sanur etc. bali always has waves - don't worry! oh, and it usually only rains in the afternoon.

Hey folkes Im thinking of coming over to Bali in Jan/Feb next year. would anybody have any good advice as to whether this is a good time of the year to come if my reasons for coming are primarily to surf? or shall i wait for the dry season and join the crowds?? just your opinion. Thanks
