One of the best I've had! Surfed this place in July one year, coming back from NL and it was firing with no one out, too exhasted to go out that day, we drove over from Kuta first thing in the morning and it was one of the best surfs I've had, no wind, 4-6ft and 2 other locals out, real shallow when it tapers off after about 100m...checked it the following day and it was blown out. Worth a look when wind is low.

unreal Ive only been surfing a few years and was in Sanur last Feb. With no one on the beach and waiting to go over to Nusa Lembongan I figured a surf to be in order. So I left my lady on the sand and paddled out to 3 local kids in the water. Two of which were like 9 or 10 and the other in his mid teens. We were hooting and hollering eachother onto waves, comparing tattoos trying to talk balinese and english, etc. and surfing under a grey stormy sky w/ head high sets. I tell ya though, one kid had a leash with 20 different knots in it, a board all busted up with no nose and was just killing it with a smile on his face the whole time, even after he swam for it 3 times and added some knots in his leash. Just killer. The next day we left for NL, going through huge open ocean swells with no sight of land. Nuts. Not much to do if your a young foreigner in Sanur, but try to talk with some of the older locals.

you need to be lucky I used to stay in Bali for around 5 months and i surfed Sanur just once!If you read the wave-finder, they say you need to be there on the first day of a very, very big swell. I was there douring the biggest swell of 05 and had the waves of my live! The first wave i took was just amazing and i tried to surf the wave as long as possible and belive me its really shallow at the end, and since the i've got a small Indo-Tatoo at my left arm! But this is a fair price for such a session and a cool souvenier.

Where is the nicest hotel near this spot, im taking the wife here (on honeymoon) , so it needs to be pretty fancy. I'm from N Ireland, only ever surfed Feurte and Africa before. Biggest i have ever surfed is about 8 Ft treble over head, will i be out of my depth going to Bali? I surf Irish reefs all the time but im reckoning Indo is different. Any emails on where to stay and on boat trips would be well appreciated, thanks in advance, Martin.

Good Luck Scored Sanur firing one day 6-8 feet and offshore for about 2 hours before the wind turned it to shit. Unreal wave. Probably one of the best rights in the world and I am a Honolua Bay local.

best wave ive ever surfed surfed it a few times back in jan 1994. 3-4 feet of true hollow 100-300 meter ride with offshore wind. last time i was there was my last day in indo on that trip, it was only about 3 foot low-mid tide all alone out there, til it hit high tide then the wave dropped to 2 feet just as about 30 japanies surfers started crowding the lineup. checked it out last summer and it was blown out onshore. probably only works on wet season.
