haha no surf in maso I used to have a job at one of the hotels and naively brought my surf board from south africa...there bloody 3ft waves for months on end with the occasional swell that picks it up a bit..travelled around gran can and other islands and i can tell you that dont take the spot ratings too seriously because there are no amazingly gnarly waves...in season with exactly the right conditions maybe...but even the bloody north pole can have sick waves if the conditions are perfect. c'mon lads, rather surf portugal or spain where there are waves..not german and english tourists bodysurfing an epic 2ft hollow shorebreak!

Crap as!! Stayed in gran can last xmas not much surf about at maspoliomas spoke to some of the local ex pats and as a rule it realy rarly works, certanly no regional classic. Head north of las palmas is alot better. stay clear of the middle of the north coast as there is a resturant that shovels its waist into the sea and we did see a couple of sharks. Confital was good but go there with respect and leave some one with your car as the locals are not the most hospitable. Or just go mob handed and fill in the fuckers (joking).

Maspalomas or not Maspalomas I live in Las Palmas and I surfed a few times Maspalomas. It is true that lot of them it was mushy, chopy or flat. But other times, when the south swell arrives to the island and there are the trade winds blowin' (that happens parctically all year round), then Maspalomas gets overhead and the sections conect...then you would ride near a hundred meters within diferent sections (the take off and his speedy lip, the shoulder, ...)

Small and weak This wave is for tourists! ...i went on a last minute holiday in december 2002 for christmas and i took my board, (sponger) i only went for a week costing me only $100 but i should have stayed at home! nightlife is rubbish, waves are aswell! i went to the north coast on the last day and i couldn't believe what i saw, maspolomas was 3ft at face and mushy, north coast was at least 6-8ft faces! with hollow open barrels! i couldn't beleive what i had missed out on! dont bother with any of the south coast, it is just rubbish mush (unless you are longboarder cause longboarders can surf the small mush!) ...this wave is definatley not for bodyboarding. Just go straight to the north coast for open hollow barrels that you can launch out of! ...keep ripping
