Additional Surfing Infos
Abalone Cove has three spots: 1) The Point, the main surf spot, a reef left, breaks on a direct south and any W-WNW winter swell. Its at the south/east end of the cove. It breaks at all tides depending on the swell size. It can get good but usually is smaller than other PV spots. 2) Toilet Bowls, a peak, is directly west of the point. Many prefer it to the point, especially those desiring a right. Sometimes it's pretty good. It's got a partially sandy bottom at vcarious times of the year. 3) The right-hander is further west from Toilet Bowls on a big unruly reef with funky sections. I think it sucks but others disagree.
  Overview
Atmosphere This is a Palos Verdes surf spot, so localism is always a possibility. It's in Rancho Palos Verdes, however, not Palos Verdes Estates. I believe that has a bearing on the fact that the localism is less hostile than at some other PV spots. Sometimes there's no localism at all, just a mellow vibe.
General The surf of the point at Abalone is right there below PV Drive South. You can't miss it as you drive by. It's a beautiful place to visit. Bring your family for the great publicly accessible beach, one of RPV's treasures. Come and enjoy the day, whether you surf or not. A really lovely spot.

All loud mouth babies
That sounds totally typical in PV. BIg mouths and they are not very good at surfing. This is what happens when you only surf a feable break and don't go out of your area. Their lame.

SPLITT!!
Me and my brother stopped through PV on our way back from oxnard when we saw a firing A-frame rolling through. We went down there knowing that it was a notoriously localized spot. All the locals were screaming "split!" on our way down, and then proceeded to catch a perfect left, barely able to stand up on a surfboard let alone surf the wave. It was a joke, anyone we actually walked by didn't say a god damn thing to our faces, and even after we found our own peak we got vibed by guys who literally got up on their elbows and knees before fully standing up and directly afterward falling off of a perfect left. Its understandable, I'd be pissed to if I sucked nearly as bad as all the lame ass kooks that were yelling at us from the water. If anyone of them actually made it to their feet in time, they just ran from the barrel as fast as possible and did some really stylish kick outs at the end. SPLITT BROOOOO.

Boo Hoo
Sorry you were offended Masochist, because it is the loudmouths that scream down the hill at you I directed this too. OK there are a few locs in PV that are ordinary surfers, but come on. We all know about the lamebrain yellers.
