When Parking is challenging follow public parking signs up the hill to the remote public lot. Or feel like getting ripped off and pay 10 bucks to park at the Theater. If you are lucky and get a good parking meter bring lots of change. 2 hour meters near the beach. When very small and on low tide you can hit rocks and also when small lots of kelp. Epic spot when going off. Every now and then, on a 15 ft northwest swell, this place will light up with perfect glassy and barrely/offshore 3 to 5 foot faces that seem to last forever and only 20 guys out in the line up.... but when does that ever happen? 350 days of the year, this spot is flat! Be careful of the creek water after a rain!
Atmosphere
Right next to a jetty it can sometimes break like a point. You have to pay for it but if your lucky park next to the railroad next to the cliff, but a longer walk but it's free.
General
It can be fun when medium size but horrible when small. Great longboard spot... just don't tell your friends - it's local. Local Family Spot.

nice - just got back from here at Sunset. Low tide was at 5pm or and it was really low. Surf is 4-6+ in town and the good sets here were easily at that. A bit kelpy, and you had to be patient but it was a great wave - really fun. I suppose I am an out of shape kook, and this is my second season of getting my ass pummelled in the town spots. I moved here last fall and had no friends or mentors to show the way. I've even been cursed out at cowells! I never wanted to get in peoples way, I just didn't know what/where was good for me really. Capitola is good for me and I felt that right after my first few waves. I don't think there is anything wrong with websites like this - they just spread people out and give them info. back in the day it was who you knew, but this is the wave of the future.

Fun Wave - hit it on my 9'6" Sat. falling high tide, the peak was a little shifty, quite a wait between sets and not much of an inside section but definately worth the wait, long rights, chest to head high
