hi
this is a beginner spot. even when the waves are good on LI, gilgo is still a slow wave with no vertical wave face. great for beginners and town of babylon kooks. plenty of guys out there on longboards and fish shapes that are just looking for an excuse to take their shirt off and will snake you just to go straight and not make the section.

gilgo is a begginer spot only during the summer just like every other spot on long island exept turtles
ive surfed gilgo on crazy days 8 foot pumping 40mile an hour off shore winds if u tell me a begginer can surf that ur nuts. And if you still think it is u probaly only surf during the summer so dont talk shit until u strap on the 6 5 4 mm and surf some pumpin winter waves. ive even snapped my board in half at gilgo. Also take a look at the picks people put up u can tell witch ones are from summer and witch ones are from winter, spring and fall
