There is little known about this island. Surfline claims the left point breaks for 300 yards all the way under the bridge. It supposedly rarely breaks, but looks like it has potential to produce some of the best swell the east coast has to offer.

fishermans to Nautalius shoal
I was fishing out at the shoal Sat jul 12th 2008. Fishermans island was definatly going off. But there is another break offshore fishermans island on nautilus shoal. It was a beautiful swell. I wished I had my board. Im planning on going back. Its only accesible by boat.

i surfed here during Subtropical storm Andrea in may 2007. it was what everyone said it was, lefts peeling from an outside shoal all the way through both bridges. definatley a point setup but still beach breakish. got a ticket from a cop for trespass and dragging our kayak under the bridge. its a heavy spot with currents like you wouldnt believe.
