Like most of the eastern coast of the United States this is a long stretch of beach break that is broken up by jetties, piers and inlets. And like the whole of the eastern seabord it is not as consistent as the West Coast and the waves for the most part are not near as powerful. The breaks can turn on and offer quality beach break peaks but cannot be compared to the points and reefs of the west coast. This region suffers from a large continental shelf that decreases the power of the waves. Massive temperature variations as well. On the plus side the majority of surfers in the region are good and decent folks that for the most part are far removed from the aggro scene so evident at many southern California beaches...very little localism horseshit is in evidence. |

Waiting For Big Bertha
Overall a fun night in Sandbridge. Low tide always does this spot right and with a Severe Thunderstorm watch in effect, the break was absolutely empty! Me and my little bro paddled out into waist high glass. Not epic, but its a good warm

big low went right off the coast night before
warm SW > WSW winds
25+ mph offshore winds, strong ground swell held up all morning and winds didnt kill swell as fast as usual due to more powerful swell
a few overhead sets
