Tanya?? Harding??? - Do you mean the knee whacker Tanya? Or someone else? I associate Seaside with Portland so I try to steer clear of that break. It has had a rep for years (and I mena YEARS - like 15 to 20) as a locals only break. A freind of mine got chased down the beach by a bunch of wacked locals in a Jeep and waving and shooting guns in the air. What a bunch of kooks!

Valley Folk - Note that the valley people up here are not assholes like San Fernando Valley kooks in SoCal. I know because I have lived both places. Pacific City is much better vibe than Seaside. Haven't seen Tanya surfing PC yet, which is a plus.

Summer PC - I agree with all of the comments that this break has become WAY too exposed with no help from the Pelican Pub and the hotel. That damn web cam on the hotel is a direct link to the valleys to see if it's goin off! But then again it doesn't really go off when the sheep are grazing if you know what I mean!Really I can't slam the valleys cause I live there now. Consider myself a local cause this is my hometown but just can't make a living there!! The development of PC may be a good thing for the economy but it sure sucks for the lineup!I wanna say "HEY" to the Ledbetter's (sp?) at the surf shop. If you are checking this break stop in and say hi. They are a good bunch of folk. ; )

PC clarification - This is not a point break. It is not a left. Somebody was smokin' that world-class Oregon bud if they thought otherwise. There is a right that works off of the rocks that can be great (rare). In front of the parking lot is a predominantly right beachbreak, some lefts. My friend helped the guy, who was attacked by a shark @ 2 years ago here, out of the water. 6' blue shark took off most of his calf muscle. I hope this clears up some of "mystery" of PC. Oh yeah, watch out for the boats launching from the beach. They do not turn for surfers.

- i'd have to agree with the austrailian. the pictures show a right not a left. and it really doesn't look like a point. i mean, there's a point in the background, but the wave breaking in both photos seem far removed from it. oh well, it looks fun ... whatever it is.

big~strong~anonymous - Not in SD anymore. Living here as I have my entire life. Was in SD for 1 year for work. Not that it matters, and not that you have surfed anywhere other than PC. That would explain your ignornance about the wave and what a good break is. I learned to surf in these cold waters and will remain here. I was simply pointing out the poor wave quality of PC.. sure it might break sometimes.. EVERPLACE HAS TO SOMETIMES... but its a typical beach break, not a point break... As far as the N-wind, if it were strong enough I would go down to shorties. Its a typical beach break as well but at least its not as pathetic as PC. no worries, mellow out freak.

aussie - what the hell this is a right hander.

Spicoli - PC IS EPIC, 15 foot waves and chicks in thongs, IT RULES, i saw a shark in the surf though, crazy
By anonymous , 15-02-2004
lefts? - I don't know what you guys in the states call a left hander, but in Australia we would call these right handers

P.S. Silver - I've been reading your letters logged up in Seaside's section. So sorry your in Diego. It's pumpin up here right now! All the more for us I guess! Sounds like your pickin up the bad vibe routine from your So Cal bros down there though! Stay easy!
