Take the 101 west from Port Angeles to the 112. From the 112 go 6 miles and make a right on Place Road and continue till it ends about 3 miles. From there it's a short hike to the water.
Long drive or take a ferry and long drive. Good luck finding parking on good days and look out for dead salmon everywhere in october and try not to get shit on by all the birds. Also wash your wetsuit well after paddling across the river.
Be a very strong paddler on incoming and outgoing tides the rip is killer. This is not a good place to learn. Hold on to your board when coming in if you want to keep your board and body free of damage. Don't gain access via the reservation or else.
Overview
Atmosphere
This spot is pretty friendly unless you get in the way or are a wave hog. I hate the rip. If you want to surf here you need to know how to stand up. Watch out for the seals they will scare the shit out of you. And remember, sharks only bite when you touch their private parts.
General
Hold your head high and pretend you belong there. Localism is strong and out of towners especially with out of state plates is a no-no. The river mouth is cold and shallow yet very rocky, and has a very fast hollow right. To access stumps you must paddle across the icy river and paddle out from its western banks. Stumps holds a very fast sometimes hollow punchy left. You are guaranteed to leave this place with endless stories of being barrelled. It’s not an everyday break, but when it goes it explodes and can put out some epic sessions.
