Norhern RECEIVES South swells!!! The island of sao Francisco really receives south swells during Winter!! I lived there and I saw/surfed all that big swells in Prainha, aroud 5-6 feet rights, even 8 feet for the correct conditions!

description is not accurate. northern santa catarina doesnīt get the southern swells, they just pass by, as its coast is mostly facing NE, and because of the island of santa catarina, that blocks these swells. if you happen to be in this state, go to Florianopolis island, or the southern coast, which are a lot more exposed to swells.surf on this coast relies on SE/E/NE swells, which arenīt usually big nor constant. But, they do have some very nice point breaks, mostly right-handers, that will break on big SE/E swells. they also have some trouble with localism in a very few locations. though, itīs a very beutiful region, with nice parties in summer, especially around balneario camboriú.
