surfing near sao paulo
hello!

i will be moving from california to morumbi in 10 days. do i need to bring a wetsuit? if yes, what thickness? and do i need booties?

also, what are the closest/easiest spots to get to from morumbi? i understand traffic in sao paulo can be horrendous.

much thanks.

Florianopolis, Sthrn Brazil
I have just spent two very good weeks on the Island of Santa Catarina which is not listed on the spot map . It should be . The island of Santa Catarina ( Florianopolis being the capital of the state of Santa Catarina which is on the island , got it ) has has plenty of varied breaks, can be good on a southern , eastern or rather large northern swell and the locals are fine . Espescially the female variety . Accomodation and living vary between 10-25 dollars a day but if you wanted to you could do it on 5-7 dollars aday . Plenty of nite life , beach culture and sandboarding, hiking , canoeing , mountainbiking etc when the surf is flat .
Mole, Joaquina, Mocambique beaches pick up the swell the best with my favourite being Mole south beach . When the swell is running really big ( which it does every month or so these breaks don´t handle unless you are nuts . The mouth at Barra da Lagoa is good for this and the odd 10ft wave will come through . Crowds can be present , respect patience and humour will see to that. Brazilians also only get down to the water +- 8am . So if you get there at Dawn you will be soul surfing .

wrong information...
Patiero, Vermelha and Paúba are not in São Paulo south, they´re located at the north of the state of São Paulo
