North Shore
If you are planing a surf trip to Brazil, be sure to check Sao Paulo´s north shore, specially São Sebastiao and Ubatuba. These places have great infra structure, huge variety of waves, and receive south and south-east swells quite often. Besides, looks and girls are among the best in Brazil. The best spots are: Maresias, Cambury, Baleia, Itamambuca, Félix. Best time to surf is from April to October (but if u are lucky u can get a good swell in summer too, and the weather is better). Stay at a "pousada" and don´t miss Sirena (club) if u get the chance to check Maresias. About transport, if u arrive in Sao Paulo, those places are 2 - 3 hours away by car (roads are very good, though expensive). The best site to check wave forecast for this region is: www.waves.com.br.
Hope u have a great time in Brazil and enjoy our waves and vibe!

disgruntled
Be careful with these guys. In my experience, Brazilian surfers, especially those from the Gaucho Surfers' Federation FGS, are dishonest, and do not honour their promises.

giuseppe: a 6´1 should be fine. i live in Rio, which has a lot more waves than the nordeste, and my everyday board is a 6´0 (although, i have a 6´4 for the 1,5m - 2,5m waves). i have 75 kilos.

i think you can find used boards in any medium/big town in the brazilian coast. a good used shortboard costs about USD 100/150 in Rio, should be the same in Natal or Fortaleza. Pipa should be a little more expensive, because it´s a touristic town.

about the swell, in dec/jan, the N facing coast in the nordeste catches some good N swells from northern atlantic. suerte!

quiver for NE brazil nov/dec
-------------------------------

I'm a surfer from north spain going to northeast brazil in nov/dec: is it easy to find a shortboard thruster to buy around fortaleza/pipa/natal? Or should I bring my board? I was thinking to buy there a 6.1" all-around...and change fins if it gets big...or would it be undergunned? thank you. drop a line if you need info about north spain surf conditions.
