Earthquake! - I've gone to chile several times during the past 10 years to surf and according to friends of mine entire coastal towns down south have been wiped out by the tsunami cause by the powerful earthquake that just occured. I wonder what's left at famous breaks such as Punta Lobos,Puertecillo,Curanipe etc. Curious to know how it's affected the points and sandbars there. Could anyone tell me???

I do realize that many people have lost there lives and my heart goes out to all the families that have lost loved ones. Viva Chile!

Iquique and Antofagasta - Can anyone out there give me some info on surfing in Iquique and Antofagasta in August? How cold is the water, and is there any surf shops in either/both towns? I will be there for work and won't be able to take surf stuff with me, so I will need to rent, borrow or buy stuff.
Let me know!

split a car? - Hey, I'll be headed to Pichilemu + south in July, used to live in Antofagasta, came back to the U.S. last August but headed back down for the summer. Looking to split a car rental to find waves for a few weeks, gonna work my way up to Lima by August. Let me know if interested.

Bodyboarders in or Travelling to Peru/Chile - Hey,

Due to the eruption of the pig flu i have had to leave Mexico early but have just found a cheap flight to Peru and heard of awesome hollow and heavy waves for the boog there and especially in Chile so am pretty amped for that. Just wondering if there is anyone who is going to or lives in Peru or Chile and would be keen to hit up some spots. I am going to get to Lima on 1 May 2009 and probably be around the area for 2 or three months. Or if not, does anyone know of good places to boog there and will I need a car to access the majority of spots or will I be able to get away with public transport.
Cheers,
John
