board rentals and surf camp
I am just leaving Santa Marta after staying in Casa Grande for the weekend. Rented a board and stayed for the weekend. The place was relaxed and really friendly. Here is the link if you want to check it out yourself www.costenosurf.com

Board hire on the Coast
If you're in the Barranquilla area, good luck. I think the hotel/bar at El Bolsillo has 1 (one) board for rent, but it's just a beat-to-hell old Bic. There is one "surf shop" in BAQ, which has only one or two boards, and I don't think they rent those out.
In Cartagena there is a new surf shop, but I'm afraid I don't know what they're carrying, though i have a feeling it's just apparel and the like.

Good luck!

explore...
Am thinking about checking out the zone about an hour and a half beyond Tayrona, towards La Guajira. Does anybody have any useful insights into this area? Quality of beaches, natural environment, rivers, surfing potential, para activity, etc...

Heading for Barranquilla
My boyfriend and I are learning to surf in Venezuela at the moment and are heading to Colombia soon. We are thinking of stopping for a month in Barranquilla and are wondering if its hard to find a cheap room for rent. If anyones got any information that might be useful or wants to meet up for a surf next month drop me an email at rodent1979@yahoo.co.nz

Burritaca
I can't wait to get back down there! My mother-in-law own's a kickin' little hotel right on the beach about 5 min. from the break at burritaca (www.koralia.com). There is also a bit more hostel-ish accomodations right near the break at Las Cabanas.

I've been down there a ton, but just started surfing! I am so pumped that there is a great break within walking distance!!!

Looking forward to geting out of the city here & seeing you all there!
