If you fly into Nias, the transfer down from Gunungsitoli Airport is around Rp 400 000 (May 2010 price) for a private car. Once you there it's easy: you only have to paddle out because there is a current from Lagundri to there. In 1 minute from a deepwater chanel you would be in the wave and there is the Lagundri Surf Camp near. Watch out for a tuff paddle back to the line up as there will be a strong current working against you. There are two good places to eat right off the reef and plenty of places to stay. Try Nelly's, you'll love it. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or Damien on 081260050479 (current as of May 2010) if you would like to organize accommodation in advance.

- For a good place to stay try Jim'mys
Quiet place near the keyhole.
Great view, good food, nice rooms. Cheap package deal.

Mind the crowds of Euro kooks on the point.

off season nias - I spent 3 months in Nias last year, but only a couple days surfing Lagundri. Sick wave! I want to go back but I'm not a very competitive surfer (and not into really big waves, head high is great!) and would like to beat the crowds. If I went for an entire month in the off season do u think I would get waves shoulder high or better at least 15 of the days? When should I go? I was thinking of Feb. I know the groms never leave, but when does the foreign crowd role in/leave?
