R.I.P. Tony Hussain Hinde, May 27,2008 - As reported in the Maldivian newspaper 'Dhivehi Observer' (May 31,08 edition), Tony Hussain Hinde died on Tuesday afternoon in a freak accident while surfing Pasta Point @ Male' atoll. Unconfirmed reports from witnesses at the scene stated that he fell at the end of a wave ride, face down landing on his belly, apparently he'd suffered a fatal cardiac event. Funeral services are to be held next Tuesday, may God rest his soul.
Now I don't know about the rest of you travelling surfers out there; but it sounds to me like surfing Pasta's is back on the menu boys...

paying to surf it? - Is it true that you have to pay to surf pasta point even if you are staying at Dhonveli (tari village) beach resort? I was all set to book 6/7 nights there after my boat trip for 95USD/pp per night when I found that on the net. If true and I hadn't found out beforehand what could they do to stop a paying guest? I mean you can paddle 700 meters and surf sultans but you can't surf pasta point? what about 4 seasons guests? If i paid that dosh out I'd be pretty pissed if some punk is sitting there on the beach asking if you booked through atoll travel

Pasta Point for Pastapeople only - Boat-chartered surfers cannot! surf Pastas, only the people living at the Pasta-resort are allowed to surf this wave. Tony Hussein has bought it. Pay him some money and welcome you are. Once, a group of Maldivian surfers paddled out to this point, know what happened? Minutes later The Maldive Navy came with two armed boats, arresting the locals. They had to spend the night in prison and got fined. Hey Tony - are you there, Aussie lad? Behave. Don`t get greedy. Don`t send all your kooks over to Sultans in boats. Stay at Pastas.

Surfing Pasta Point - You can book surfing from Dhonveli (formerly Tari Village) through Maldives Scuba Tours Ltd (info@scubascuba.com). As there are only 30 surfing places available at any one time, availability is very limited.

Tari or Dhonveli? - Somebody can help me?
Are the same resorts, tari and dhonveli?

- Would it be worth going to Pasta's in March or too small - also what's the access like without reef shoes - do you have to wear them? (as I can't stand them!)

By anonymous , 14-11-2005

- How do you book this place - can't find anything on the surfatoll website about prices or actually booking?

By anonymous , 13-11-2005

- Also how do you book to stay at Dhonveli, I had a look at Atoll adventures but couldn't find any prices or booking options? Do you have to send them an email to let them know you are interested and then they send you the info?
