surfing in Portugal
Due to it's geographical position, Portugal is blessed with some seriously sweet swells throughout most of the year, You can drive up the coast along 600km+ of open beachbreake and concealed bays. The whole coast is teaming with unknown spots begging to be found. You don't even have to go very far from famous/crowded beaches to find yourself alone with possibly an even better wave than 20-40 people are fighting for five minutes down the road. All you need in portugal is a car and a little spirit and you'll be rewarded. The best swells come in late winter early spring.
Location: Southwestern Europe, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, west of Spain

October
Aloha, I am looking to do a camper van trip between Lisbon and Porton in the fall. I will be with the missus who does not surf, so Im not rolling up with an insta crowd, and have done a good bit of travelling and know full well that respecting the locals and the aina goes a long way. Just trying to get a bit more info as far as getting away from the herd, seek and ye shall find of course, but is it a hassle finding good spots to post up at with the camper???? Lots of private property and having to stay at RV parks, hope not...Any information would be greatly appreciated, I have heard a lot of brilliant things about Portugal and Northern Spain, cant wait to see it for myself...

soft but fun
Padelled out alone, the swell had picked up overnight and so had the wind which was blowing pretty much cross-shore to onshore. ONlnset waves were really ridable, as there was just enough size to feel the potential of this spot. It must be great

The best session of the vacation...  rocked up early and it was overcast and gloomy and full low-tide, which didn't look good, as the peaks had been working best at mid-high tide.   One guy floundering in shallow water on a

Haven't been to portugal for over 5 years, now returning with kids - so it will be interesting to see how we can work around them and their totalitarian eating-sleeping regime. and my surfing.  I guess I'll hi the water whenever I can, i
