where deep water reaches the reef, thats were the wave is. very strong current sometimes and big sets will wash you, cause the position of the peak is changing .
Atmosphere
ight now in what they call the wetseason, when most people think there aren't any good waves in Bali to be found, the east-coast with Nusa Dua and Serangan works very good. Less surfers and more space then in the dryseason. Ok, some rain, but who cares when you are in the water. Even in the mornings you will find good waves without any people on the Bukit westcoast.
General
it sometimes scares me actually, because of its size and power and distance to the beach and all the sealife underneath you.

Nusa Dua - how good do you have to be? - Hi,
Am thinking of staying in Nusa Dua. How good do you have to be to ride here? I would say I am somewhere between Novice and Intermediate. Is my best bet, a trip to Kuta / Seminyak each day? If so, is this easy to do - taxi and board rental etc?
Thanks for any advice.

Adrian - I have Nusa Dua (Gir Gir) for a number of years and just returned from a 3 week surfing trip. This is a world class wave that has stacks of power and long rides - there are three take off points and the further inside you go the heavier the wave and the more the wash. I rode a hybrid minimall and also a 6.8ft on some days. Great fun and worth the trip. Is getting more crowded since no bombs in Bali since 2005.
