One of the better waves on the south coast - You can travel a fair way round the world, and you won't get a rivermouth left all that much better than this. Sure, Merimbula down the coast gets a bit more perfect, but its way more fickle, and it needs a much bigger swell to work, and sure Moruya is not Mundaka, but it aint bad either. It jacks and barrels well on a 3-6 feet swell, S-SW winds, low tide, up to 100-200m long. Its pretty consistent, as it holds the dominant south winds, and there is even a rare good right barrel on the other side of the channel. 8/10 for mine.

Moruya Wall/Mouth - The wall is good for short boards and is often a pretty steep and fast wave, but the rivermouth can work really well too. It's a pretty powerfull take off section and the can just wall up for ages and is fantastic fun especially when it's 4-6 foot. More suited for waveskis and longboards due to it's length or ride and the nice big walls, plus it can be a long paddle back out if you get a long ride.
But when it's working the short boards a can rip it up also.
all the us and them crap on this page is a joke. I grew up in the bay and surf mainly at Durras, Broulee (down the beach) and the river mouth moruya(and the bay when it picks up enough swell). But i live in Canberra now and ride a WAVESKI! so all the more reason to hate me i guess.
it aint no Munduka (surfed there as well) but it's a bloddy great wave and pretty consistent.
everyone relax and respect each other and the ocean and get plenty of waves.
