Get here early particularly in summer as carpark and crowds build up very quick.
dont rock off unless you know where and when (same if you surf the less consistent point on the south end) your just gonna hurt yourself
there are good peaks to be had all up and down the beach, and the south end very occasionaly in winter turns on for a short sucky but memorable barrel
Atmosphere
Can be a good place to escape the summer crowds, though not so much anymore. food can be very expensive here so bring your own if you are coming for the day or head into Av. Rangers can be savage too so make sure you have a sticker or buy a ticket.
General
this place is great around april as there is still swell and the crowds die off tremendously.
Dont listen to any of that "im a local bullshit", as there are no real locals here!

soon to be local - yeww whaley sunds sick so far...im movin up here from manly in a few months, i surf alright, whats the surf like in winter in the southerlies, sounds like the wedge is a summer wave. whats the area like? many groms and locals running round? and what are the chicks like in this area, ive heard good things, chill bruddahs....

whale locals - wtf u mean there rnt locals... me old mans surfd it six days a week for a solid 20yrs along with a bunch of other guys. if ya go there thinkin there rnt any locals yur gonna end up in mona hospital - be warned!
