Atmosphere
Swell direction is a big issue with this break. The more SW the swell, the more swell required to make it work. SW - 3.5+m, WSW - 3m etc.
Wave build from the break at the point. Has a flatish section then walls up. When cracking, it walls up from the start. If the tide is high it fattens out, too low - it closes out. So its a hard wave to guess when its working. Best conditions - 4m WSW, mid-tide.

Pot of gold here - This inside point break is an excellent hollow wave on a huge swell and low-mid tide. High tide it's a bit too fat. It peaks off the inside of the point in a small bay and breaks for about 250m+, with the inside section a real gem-hollow and barreling on the low tide. It needs a BIG swell to get into the bay (not uncommon around here), and offshore in any south wind. It reminds me a bit of Indicators at Raglan, not as long or quite as fast, but its a real class act this wave-it peaks way out the back where its a bit fat, and then it hesitates slightly before you hit a much hollower and faster section where you can get barreled-just like Indicator does. Nat Young calls it a 'pot of gold'. Try the inside section at low tide and just watch the curl barrel clean and crisp. I rate it 8/10, but only at low-mid tide.
