DEfinately works best on a higher tide, Good fun surf, not usually any crowd at all. Rocks and reef can be exposed but they're not too dangerous. Sometimes it can break on a certain rock but usually breaks ontop of sand.
Atmosphere
Great atomsphere, great place for a weekend or holiday, there is plenty else to do there to. Surfwise it good, there are varios breaks along the coast so a quad bike is nessasary to find these well hiden spots. Locals are sweet. There are some bach houses there so if you know someone there or rent a bach, or just camp there. Nice place to stay.
General
Great fun spending sumerdays in the surf, awsome wave when it is on, barrels on the inside and crumbly on the outside. DEfinately best to go there is summer months.

- Keep your nappies on son. according to Wannasurf.com, Pourere beach is on the map categorised as south east coast. ie, NOT EAST CAPE! It's south of Hawkes Bay.yeah you're right, the world is too big for us mahai poeple (Mahia people). You wouldn't have a chance getting to surf breaks I know about, including the ones in New Zealand.
