Drive down the hill towards Orewa beach and river, and turn right half way down the hill.
Then turn left just before the shops and Red Beach is at the end of the rd. Then get in the water and paddle out and catch a wave!

 Additional Information

Great and fun on a large swell. Better than orewa beach. Best spot is about 50 meters away from rocks. Fun long wave. Longboarders paradise, but on a large swell its great for long and short boarders.Check out Orewa web cam, and it will always be a bit better than what you see on that.

Stay in Taupo Then - If the waves are better in Taupo, go there and stay away from good 'ol reddas ya neg heads. Great place for the kiddies, awesome spot to learn. Friendly neighbourhood too! Goes off in a cyclone!

Rubbish! - Red Beach is a shit hole, spent quite a few years patrolling as a lifegaurd, couldn't be a more boring place, had a couple of average surfs here over about 15 years, Needs a cyclone swell to really work but generally a fat wave! The other guy was right in saying if there's waves here, a short drive will take you to something much better!

Better waves in lake Taupo - Forget Red Beach, this place breaks once a year if you're lucky and if it is breaking then other breaks are pumping...
