This place s fun on head high day, but can make you really have to prove yourself on big days; oh and on really big days watch out for the current that can take you into the jetty and into some of the worst currents around
Atmosphere
Overall this place is fun, but pretty sketchy if your all alone, if you go tr to go with a group
General
I love surfing this spot because the drop is fast and one of the steepest around, but if you make the drop you could have an amazing ride, or break your board on the sand or from how heavy the lip of the wave is

Small Days - Sometimes nearly as good as Alabama Point on small days. There is sometimes, depending on the bar, a longer break than the point. Easy access and restrooms near by. No stupid hotel owners.

"Spuds" - I have an old Surfer Magazine Photo Annual from 1971 showing Gulf surf, with a black and white picture of some guy named "Junior" surfing a pretty hot left with the caption of "Spuds, Alabama".
For a kid from California, I couldn't believe there was surf in Alabama. Almost 40 years later, here it is. Good on ya, Spuds Alabama.
