English (Traducir este texto en Español): Pier Break. Breaks good on both sides of the pier. Shallow outside sandbar can make it pretty hollow when its at a decent size. Breaks good on any size as long as the winds not on it to bad.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): This place can get epic during hurricane swells or with offshore winds after winter cold fronts.

memories - Surfed here as a grom. Every summer, in the late 70's, we used to rent a house right at terry's (before any condos...or the pier). Waves were always horribly small and weak, even for my skinny-runt ass on a long "Challenger" single fin...but I loved how tropical warm and clear the water was. Never thought about surfing the gulf in winter because it seemed so cold and ominous. Irony is, I now live in central CA and the water is even colder all seasons...but, at least, I can surf almost any day I want :)

Da Big Stuff - Just a heads up for gulf coasters. Hurricane surf is extreemly dangerious. Inside breaks are cool with a marginal undertow, but the the outside is not for amateurs. I've had several friends almost drown in the big stuff (Including myself). It just will not let you up. When slammed, don't panic and practice rolling in a ball and holding your breath for 3 min.

it is a great little spot - terry's cove is definitely the first stop for us alabama surfers. the new, post-katrina parking lot makes it a super convenient access point, and the little pier sets up a variety of sandbars - it works best (like most of our breaks) with some southeast in the swell. it is a nice wall of a wave most of the time. for me, on a log, it is definitely a lock into the line kind of wave, no big banking cut backs on big shoulders. definitely a more consistant break than alabama point.
