I just moved to SW Louisiana, and this is the closest "break" that I've found. Check the reports at Galveston. If it says 4 feet or so, this place should have some knee-thigh waves, barely rideable. But hey, it's Louisiana and I'll take what I can get. Bring a LONG board.
Atmosphere
Warm water, brown water, very laid back, would never go here unless I lived in the area, but it's cool enough for me. If you're a surf/wave snob, don't bother.
General
It's something. Nice beach though, you can drive right on it.

Holly Beach - Noob, but not new to water. Skiing, boogyboarding for years. Live in Lack of anydamnthing to do but Le Garbage' Casino! How is Holly Beach for learing to surf? Much different from Galveston? Gulf Shores? I know Id have to buy an old dinged board b/c nowhere to rent there... but does it have a break that isnt like trying to surf in a damn washing machine? Im not asking for Witches Rock conditions! lol! VERY serious. Please email me as I do not check this site as much as email. chad05gt@yahoo.com on any/all info. Is there ALOT of crabs (ie need booties), lots of scrap metal from storms? if so where? Where to, not to go b/c of people 'up to no good', etc.. Thank you for your time,
Smittee

- I agree with the description in Additional Information. And it's nice to see this place return after the Hurricanes.
