 Información adicional

First, long island surf is rarely pumping. There are good years and bad. When the waves come up, it is insane. 65% of the time it's windy wind slop. 20 % its big stormy atlantic deusche. 10% its pretty darn good to great. and 5% of the time its epic.
There is a bay that is opened periodically into the ocean. sand bars form. then they dissappear with a storm. Then the randomly reform. Then they open the cut again. There is often a lot of crap floating around in the water when the cut is opened. The bluefishing becomes great.
So the water pouring out of the bay from the opened cut inthe ocean dumps sand and forms a sandbar. The sandbar can be pretty nasty, sometimes these big wham-slammers are crushing heads on inches deep water. Fast, but the wind is usually wrong. Get there in the early AM to catch the offshore winds.
Then there is the outer bar which is pretty consistent if there is any size in the swell. breaks long but never completely unless it's an apocalypse swell.

Ambiente

Too many people surfing shortboards inside. If there's a good size swell, admit to yourself you are on long island, get a longboard, and paddle outside.

General

Try to run over as many little city kids splashing around the inside break as you can. Try to make a lifeguard cry.

Chefs - I hate it when everyone is cooking at the beach. They cook out in the line up too. it is a bad time. let's join Surfrider and hold hands. don't be a cooker. get your range rover and put 4 nine footers on it. come out and cook.
