- Localismo
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Swell direction and tide will have a big effect on this spot. Rip can be very strong and the paddle is long (you better be fit if it's big!).
A good take off spot is right in front of round boulder, stay up on the face of the wave and pump hard to connect to the next section.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Three sections. The first section is usually dominated by locals, you will catch waves but you'll have to hassle for them.
The other two sections are friendlier but can be very crowded.
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Fickle spot but excellent when on. Can get crowded.

over rated. - Good drop, Take off behind the boulder and you MAY get shacked. Short ride for a "point".
There are points west that are as good on the right tide with 90% less people. And i`m not talking AFB...
Surf alone...

too crowded - turtles is too crowded now. if the surf is good, most likely it wont matter because youll be too aggrivated by kooks dropping in on you, to even wanna consider surfing there. not to mention kooks from all over go there, and think they run the place. BOLT

LI localism - localism on LI is a joke. we live on a 120 mile long beachbreak, with the exception of some rocks out in montauk. but montauk is still prone to the same atlantic flat spells and shit waves as the rest of the island. we should just embrace our shitty surfing situation because theres really no spots on this island worth fighting over. know the rules, don't be a dick, we can all enjoy our sweet 8 second period waves. those who care will buy a winter suit and surf when the waves actually get decent, and the crowd usually isn't an issue when that happens. i rarely surf montauk because its so far away, but on the few days that i do decide to make the drive, you can count on seeing me paddle straight to the peak much to the dismay of the "hardcore" mtk locals. see ya in the water!
