Park in the lot facing the break of on the road if lot is full (don't worry, full lot doesn't mean they're al surfers). The wave comes out of deep water and breaks on a rock ledge about 3 feet deep. Most drops are late, fast, freefalls. When the swell is driven by a strong south wind there is a vicious current dragging you arouth the point. If you are stuck in it just let it take you and paddle towards shore, walk up the beach and re-enter the break further down. The wave itself is a sick, hollow, left-handed barrel. It's only spot that I know of on the Great Lakes where boards have been broken.

Yah but!!!! - It is cool that Lake Michigan gets wave, impressive for a body of water so much smaller, BUT it is ALWAYS cold as hell!!!

Its Adventure - Surfed GL's 6 years in 90's from CA. Inconsistent, yes, but surprising at times. Best days are really worth it. Shouldn't miss aspect of adventure surfing lakes. Makes it really different and unique. Back living CA for years now. Sometimes miss surfing there, which has become much less enigmatic. Right on GL surfers!

Don't mess with jersey - all i can say about the guys hating on NJ is this. "how many days do you get stand up barrels on the lakes?" the answer is never. I grew up surfing in Los Angeles. Also Baja, NJ, NY, and DE. A good day on the lakes is waist to chest high thats not a choppy sloppy mess. and considering that only happens a few weeks yearly, cmon guys, lets be honest. I still think GL surfers are rad as hell.
