Local vibe is NASTY! The local "click" are very agressive and will not hesitate to fight. Ignorant pricks!
Fishing lights on the pier gives you the possibility of night surfing
Atmosphere
typical FL.. winter time OK. summer flat and poor... hurricane season might bring some nice waves in summer. but we don't like hurricanes right?! yeah and sea-lice..
General
you might need a FEW quarters..

??? - I have live in Southern California and am a local at Blacks. I surf around the world and surfed many world class breaks. I visit my family in Boynton Beach and have surfed Lake Worth Pier. I had no local hassle (probably because I surf well over 20 years since I was a little kid). Be outside, take off deep, and if you cant surf, the locals are right .. go learn at another less quality break.
One visit was actually a few feet over head and hollow which is extremely rare in Florida and probably happens once a year or less (I got lucky being there for it ... I could post a picture of it but I dont want to give a false impression of the place as it was a super rare swell for Florida). I was tucking overhead bowls with only two other guys on the left side of the pier (which was much heavier that the right side). It was only us three that were willing or able to ride it, and dozens of locals on the right side surfing the mush doing little chop hops and such. And I swear most were stranded on the inside and could not even make it to the lineup. LMAO When I see the tough comments on this page and those guys were probably the ones stranded on the right side while only 2 locals could pull the barrels with me on the left .. LOL You guys need to CHILLLL out. Let your surfing do the talking from now on !!!! LOL

Due to beach remodeling.. this break has been hurt some. - Not blocked by the bahamas.. can very good. Locals are fine... never seen a fight.
small spinner sharks though don't put with crap.
The pier was destroyed... breaks about 4-5 month summer excluded.

rossssss - Waves here are the same as anywhere else in the area. Also, way too crowded so its NOT worth it. Lots of sharks also feeding off the pier area. Not worth it.
